Students will be introduced to the fundamentals of storyboarding, including the basics of cinematography, pacing, and script breakdown. Students will also learn the fundamental rules of storyboarding, and when—if ever—it is okay to break them. By the end of the class, participants will gain the foundational skills needed to create clear and engaging storyboards.
Story 1 aims to introduce you to the world of storyboarding in animation. We will develop your draftsmanship, study the history of cinema, and strengthen your understanding of the storyboarding craft. This is an introductory course, no experience necessary.

He attended art school at the Savannah College of Art and Design, and lived in New York City briefly before moving to Los Angeles to pursue a career in animation. His wife also works in animation as a TV executive, and his two cats don’t work at all.

This intermediate/advanced course will go over the skills you need to succeed in action adventure storyboarding. The course will review storyboarding concepts such as story, pacing, character, camera, editing, acting, as it pertains to action adventure shows. As such, the class will emphasize dynamic staging, dynamic figure drawing. The class will also go over various thumbnail processes that will help the student keep track of an action board. The class will culminate into chase and fight scenes.

Ae Ri Yoon studied illustration in SCAD. She started working as a storyboard revisionist in Nickelodeon's TMNT show, and has since storyboarded on shows like Nickelodeon's TMNT show, Disney TV's Big Hero 6, Dreamwork's Shera, Marvel's Spiderman, Nickelodeon's Star Trek Prodigy, and many more.

Although he has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, he has been able to learn his craft by taking various satellite schools in Los Angeles, and has since never used the quadratic equation ever again. What is a storyboard revisionist? This 8-week introductory class will prepare students for their entry level position for storyboarding in animation. Students will learn the draftsmanship skills necessary for the job, such as understanding structure, proportions, breaking down different character shapes, character acting, perspective, and camera work.
The first half of the class will be spent learning these foundational skills, and the second half will focus on what goes into the revisionist role. The emphasis will be on developing the necessary skill sets to make you a versatile artist and why that is important for working in animation as a storyboard revisionist.

Jasmine Goggins studied Animation in CSUF and storyboarding at CDA. She started as a Revisionist on Nickelodeon's TMNT (2012) animated series and has since then has worked on shows such as Shera: Princess of Power, Mao Mao, the Legend of Vox Machina, and several others. She has also briefly worked as a 2D layout artist for Blizzard's World of Warcraft 2-D Illustrated shorts.
