Cinematic Storyboarding: Integrating 2d with 3d

Embark on a journey into the realm of cinematic storytelling with our comprehensive course, where we delve into the seamless integration of 3D tools (Blender & Unreal Engine) and 2D (Toon Boom Storyboard Pro) to conceptualize and troubleshoot high-quality storyboards adaptable to any production, whether it be a 2D action show, 3D video game, or a live-action commercial.

Together, we'll explore the intricacies of crafting compelling narratives and bringing them to life on the screen. Whether you're just starting out or honing your skills, this course is designed to equip you with the essential techniques needed to conceptualize storyboards effectively. Through hands-on learning, we'll uncover how these powerful tools and techniques empower both artists and non-artists to bring your creative visions to life with confidence and proficiency. By the conclusion of this immersive 10-week course, you will have completed two portfolio ready storyboards that showcase your newfound skills.

Instructor: David Maximo, storyboard artist

  David Maximo is a veteran storyboard artist and director. He has worked on projects such as Mike Tyson Mysteries, Star Wars Rebels, Batman: The Long Halloween, Pantheon, Rise of the TMNT:The Movie, and Legend of Vox Machina. Although he has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, he has been able to learn his craft by taking various satellite schools in Los Angeles, and has since never used the quadratic equation ever again. He is currently an Assistant Director at Marvel Studios, working on the long-awaited revival, X-Men 97.’  

Focus: Learn to adapt storyboarding skills developed in foundational classes into skills for the action/adventure genre.  Learn the tools and tricks required to complete various entertaining action/adventure sequence.

Prerequisite: SB1

Suggested Materials: ToonBoom Storyboard Pro, Pens, pencils, sketchbook, loose paper, markers, digital camera, laptop and photoshop (any version)

Location: All SUMMER 2024 courses will be held online.  All material, course structure and syllabus will remain the same.  Class will meet in an online meeting room hosted by Brainstorm School.

Requirements:  Computer with Photoshop and high speed internet.  Mic and camera are required for this class.
