SB3: Storyboarding 3

Prepare to venture into a career of professional storyboarding. We will focus on expanding your skill-set in visual storytelling as a Storyboard Artists. With an emphasis on improving your technical ability, and creative thinking to achieve the best Storyboards for your portfolio. Methods done in various studios will be implemented on this course, so you'll have a better idea of what to expect when you start a career as a Storyboard Artist.

Instructor: Chong Suk Lee, Storyboard Artist & Instructor

Chong Suk Lee is a Director, Writer, & Storyboard Artist based in Burbank, CA. He graduated from CalArts with a BFA-4 and also taught Story Development there for years. In his 30-year career, has worked for Netflix, Cartoon Network, Warner Bros, Sony, Disney TV, Nickelodeon, Dreamworks, Titmouse, Fox, and etc. on various Comedy / Action / Prime-Time / Pre-School / Feature.

Focus: Developing basic analytical and critical thinking skills for storyboarding and learning how to view storyboarding as a design problem for visual communication.

Prerequisite: PBC & FND1 & SB1 & SB2 recommended

Suggested Materials: Pens, pencils, sketchbook, loose paper, markers, digital camera, laptop and photoshop (any version)

Location: All SPRING 2024 syllabus will remain the same.  Class will meet in an online meeting room hosted by Brainstorm School.

Requirements:  Computer with Photoshop and high speed internet.  Mic (highly recommended) and camera (optional)

  • Cinematic and Action staging

  • Storyboarding from a Script

  • Storyboarding from an Outline

  • Learning professional techniques (including pitching) and studio pipeline

  • Portfolio Development / Presentation
